Q. Do I have to take the courses in sequence, or can I skip to an advanced level? A. Courses have to be taken in sequence, with the exception of the combined package. Even then, you have to send in your exams to get all three certifications. As a SCORM compliant online school and tutorial provider, PSU has to follow standards of documentation.
Q. How fast can I complete all three certificates? A. That depends on how much time you have to give to it, and your previous experience. Some students finish in a few weeks, others take several months depending on how much effort they put into the materials.
Q. Is PSU Accredited? A. PSU is trade accredited and SCORM compliant, but credits do NOT transfer to "traditional" schools, visit www.USEYOURCERTS.com to see the PSU Accreditation philosophy.
Q. Do you accept International Students? A. Yes, we have thousands of students worldwide in our online programs.
Q. Is there a residency requirement for the advanced course, or is it all online? A. All three modules are online/email with exams you email or fax back. There are residency seminars you can take by invitation after you receive all three certificates, but they are not required.
Q. Why is there shipping on the Foundation course when the first course is all e-books and online? A. The shipping is for your completed certificate when you send back your exam. In the advanced courses, it also covers DVD's, CD Roms for student checklists, and the certificates.
Q. What if an employer, dojo, or potential class or customer requests my references? A. Unlike other colleges, PSU trade references and credential validation are always unlimited and always free. Once you've completed a cert, simply give a name, address and permission for your credentials to be acknowledged. Other schools charge up to $100 EACH for these!
Q. Do I have to videotape myself to show you completion? A. No, the exams cover the DVD's, videos, principles and all material with sufficient detail to judge completion.
Q. I won't be 18 until July, can I start now? A. You can start before 18, but cannot receive your certificates until your 18th birthday, except in the grappling only courses, which can start at 16.
Q. Are High School or College required to graduate? A. High School, GED, or equivalent martial arts/combat experience or training are all accepted, including military service or LE training.
Q. I was certified in Lethalo over 10 years ago, does that count? A. Certified Instructors in Lethalo are given discounts on the combination package, email before buying.
Q. Is the Marine Combat Course in the foundation package the same as my Marine Hand to Hand training? A. The Close Combat part of the course includes the Marine Hand to Hand course exactly as taught in the Marines, but goes into far greater depth on lethal techniques, assassination, Fairbairn and Blade Combat than the Marine Course.
Q. Can you send me some sample techniques so I get an idea of what I'll be learning? A. No techniques can be sent until we receive evidence that you are 18 and have purchased and completed Foundation or a Basic Budget course, due to the extremely deadly nature of the systems included. Combat is kill or be killed, and is what you would use in a hijacked flight against armed terrorists, NOT your drunk brother in law at a party. However, if you are on a budget, go to the very bottom of the ordering page for a special trial offer.
Q. Do the law enforcement sections include non lethal techniques? A. Many restraint, come along, and other skills are taught for LE and Military Police within the courses, but the focus is combat. Most of our SWAT and other officers who take the courses get immediate promotions as instructors. Lifer MP's take the courses to become instructors or suppliers upon retirement.
Q. What benefits to I get to help make my school successful? A. All the major weapons and martial arts supply and equipment wholesalers accept your PSU credentials for wholesale purchases, which is not true of most other courses. We refer hundreds of students each week to these suppliers, and have great clout with them on behalf of our students. In addition, grads are listed on our RFP lists for LE and Military Contracts through our partnership with ETI, the largest LE/Military weapons distributor in the U.S., along with their Smith Tactical Sniper Rifle division. Many of our grads teach at Haliburton, Blackwater and other DOD contractors, as well as local, national and international LE and Military academies. Whether you have your own dojo, are starting your own business, or looking for employment or a new position in a great new field, PSU grad and placement support is legendary.
Q. Why is demand so high for your grads? A. The security field has skyrocketed since 9/11 and worldwide security concerns are becoming exponential. Regardless of the economy, security will always be budgeted and always be a priority. In contrast to this heavy demand, qualified Combat Instructors are still very rare, as traditional martial arts barely touch on real combat instruction.
Q. Do I have to be a veteran to take the Marine Course? A. Military service helps but is not required, as all the most modern as well as traditional military techniques are included in the courses, at the instructor level of proficiency.
Q. Can I take these courses just to become deadly myself, or do I have to want to teach? A. You are certified at the instructor level, but it is a personal choice to go forward with a great new, financially rewarding full or part time career. In fact, many students start for personal skill, and end up loving the field so much that they go on to instruct. Your first $4,500 paycheck for a weekend SOCOM course is a great reward and incentive to continue!
Q. Is there an upper age limit for certification? A. We have grads that are in their 80's, so, no, there is no limit! Elderly grads have even greater justification for the use of deadly force than our younger grads in many situations.
